This was a short story, but reference to a love in the past that was torn apart by a misunderstanding, provides the relationship that is missing in many short stories, where the author has to come up with some `love at first sight' scene that is usually not believable and hard to connect with. A brief explanation of their prior love affair allows the majority of the story to focus on the current day chemistry between the two .While there is only one sex scene which is not overly detailed, there are several scenes were the seduction is steamier than many sex scenes. ******Spoiler Alert***** Dante talks Macy into a deal where Macy agrees to make love any way Dante chooses each night. Macy plans to give her body, not her heart, but Dante has other ideas. After seducing Macy to the point where her body craves Dante's touch, Macy begins to undress only to be told by Dante that she won't be removing her clothes tonight. Clearly disappointed, she says, "You said we would make love here. That was the deal." He tugs her close and continues the dance saying, "We are making love. In ways we never have before." Ooh la la! Way to go Dante!
In addition to the romance, the plot is well thought out and believable, with just the right amount of suspense. I really loved this book. While I lean heavily toward the free ebooks, this is an author I would pay to read.

I absolutely love the heroine Marisela and this series is one of my all time favorites. I have been in love with the Stephanie Plum novels but I find Marisela much more fun to read about. And much steamier. I definitely recommend the Sexy Suspense series to anyone who loves a strong heroine and a good suspense novel.
I usually don't write reviews for the books I read, especially because I don't want to openly admit that I buy romance novels. Dare me was actually a book that I would not only admit to liking but strongly recommend, though probably only for kindle with that cover picture. The plot is very good. All the scenes were well written and the intimate parts were not overwhelming and were tastefully done. Something that I find is increasingly hard to find at my current budget for books. I think that the list price of $0.99 is quite appropriate given the length of this well written story. Sorry, no spoilers or plot summaries in this review. You'll have to read it for yourself.
Two people from different intelligence agencies are looking for a code that will stop the next World War. The problem is that they are former lovers. This short story is about love, betrayal, and what happens when you don't get both sides of the story. I love the characters. But there were some drawbacks. I didn't feel the pull of love between both characters, and there were some grammatical mistakes that took me out of the story.
I like the characters of Macy and Dante, and I love the idea of a scavenger hunt/seduction in a Garden District House in NOLA. The story even has a nice twist that brings together the dissimilar ideas of searching for codes to prevent nuclear war and Dante's exquisite seduction--not going to spoil that one for you.
My only problem is trying to get past said seduction when some very serious codes were needed, but if you can get past that you'll definitely enjoy this fun and quick read. I'm definitely interested in seeing what else Leto has to offer.
Macy Rush is working against the clock to find a counter-code made by Bogdanov, a former Russian computer tech. Macy must work with that last man she ever expected to see again Dante Burke. Dante Burke heads up Arm and she works for T-45. Macy refuses to be caught up in Dante's web because he broke her heart once already. Dante is determined to win Macy back no matter the cost including this mission. Dante is determined to show Macy that he's a changed man. Macy wants to deny that Dante has changed yet is starting to let go of the past. Can Macy find what she's looking for? Will Macy let Dante into her heart again? Can Dante admit the truth to Macy? Your answers await you in Dare Me.
Very sexy story. I wish it was longer. I loved Macy and Dante, but I wanted more. I wanted to watch them rediscover each other and their love in a longer time frame, and that's just me; the greedy reader. The plot was very intriguing, but I didn't get that sense of urgency I needed to feel in the scenario presented. There were some very interesting characters that showed up, like Sean Devlin...he sounds like such a bad boy. I want to know more about him too. Dare Me definitely whet my appetite for more by Julie Leto. I really do hope more readers want more of Macy and Dante so that Leto entertains the possibility of a longer story in the future, where readers can reconnect with them.

Originally published in an anthology, this story is now the opening of Ms. Leto's newest thriller DARE series. This is a sexy read which uses the world conflict as a backdrop to the personal conflict of the hero and heroine. If you keep that in mind, you'll likely enjoy this book as much as I did.
