A life filled with happiness has never been so close . . . or felt so far away.

As the one of the world’s most deadly government agents, Ahmed’s focus has been protecting the lives of everyone he cares about. When the darkest part of his past resurfaces and threatens his life and the lives of those he loves in the small town of Keeneston, Kentucky, Ahmed knows he must go on the offensive to protect his future . . . a future with the one woman that can match his toughness and return the love that was once robbed from him.

Bridget Springer’s private security work involves training with a mysterious man feared by many in her line of work. She finds herself drawn to Ahmed despite his attempts to remain distant. Bridget vows to help Ahmed in his pursuit of justice, not knowing the full danger that she would find along the way.

As Bridget and Ahmed’s passion heats up, so does the threat from Ahmed’s oldest enemy. Can they defeat him and finally be free to pursue their chance at love?

I have loved the whole series. I think I liked this one the most. Though it really is hard to pick as I have loved all the books. This is the dark and mysterious Ahmed's story. I liked the fact that the heroine is a kick butt type of gal, that she tells him she loves him and he needs to deal with it and not run away. I like how they work through their feelings.

Finally, a book where the hero and heroine aren't trying to rescue each other because they did something stupid like not telling each other what is really going on, because they want to "protect" each other from the bad guy. The old opening the door when you know the killer is behind it with a knife to kill you scenario. This was so refreshing not to see that cliché.

That being said the book is full of action and surprises. There is still the bad guy. They have to catch him save the nation and fall in love. Kathleen was able to pull it off, and make it just one awesome book. This was a good way to end the series all the characters are there so you get to find out how everyone is going on with each other. If you haven't read the series I recommend reading the others you'll fall in love with the stories along with the characters in each of the books. The town of Keenston is waiting for you to visit and stay awhile.

Final Vow Bluegrass Brothers #7 edition by Kathleen Brooks Romance eBooks Reviews

What can I say I LOVE this series and each one is better than the last! I’m sorry that we are saying good bye for now to this series (since all the characters we know have their HEA) but what a way to go!

Ahmed has been around since the very beginning of the series (Bluegrass State of Mind) and has played one roll or another in the HEA of all the couples that have come before him. In spite of that he is something of a mystery to both the reader and the town he lives in. In this book we finally learn his secrets and why he is so determined to kill Serge (who is introduced as a bad guy in Rising Storm) and I have to tell you it’s heartbreaking. He feels he cannot have love until Serge has been dealt with and even then fears the darkness in is soul my prevent him from finding it. Though he has helped everyone else he is determined to go it alone, not wanting to expose anyone else to Serge or his own darkness but his friends will not allow it. They will help him whether he wants it or not.

Bridget is a little newer to the series but she has her share of secrets too. As the handler for Marko (the dually trained drug and explosive dog) she works in Keeneston and all over the world. She has been in the military and is currently working as private security. She has her own contacts around the world and is perfectly capable of kicking ass all on her own. I mean come on you know Ahmed wasn’t going to end up with some simpering miss cowering in the corner; Bridget is a match for him in every way.

I need to reiterate, I LOVED this book! The writing was excellent, the storyline smooth and easy to follow, the chemistry between the characters was electric. I loved getting to see everyone again. I loved the twists and turns of who knows who and from where (One of the best lines if you ask me is Cy’s frequently repeated “I am a spy”). Kathleen’s books have always been the perfect blend of romance and suspense for me and while she leaves us outside the bedroom door for the sex scenes I find I’m so caught up in the story that I don’t miss the more graphic scenes that I enjoy in some other books. Besides I have a good imagination I can guess how it goes. I’ll miss this series but I’m looking forward to what Kathleen has for us next, she’s on my auto buy list (which is actually shrinking lately) and books like this are why.
Kathleen Brooks does it again! What a fanastic read. Ms. Brooks always has you sitting on the edge of your seat, while still making you laugh at the quirky but lovable towns people's antic's. But this one brought me both happiness and sadness. Happy because we finally got to learn more about Ahmed, and to see him finally get his HEA. But sad just knowing that this is the last book in this series. I'm not gonna lie.....I'm going to really miss all the friends I've come to know and love in Keeneston .

Ahmed has been around since the very beginning of the series, and has played a major roll in the Happily Ever After outcome of each of the other couples that have come before him. In spite of all of that..... he has always been something of a mystery to both the reader, and to all those people in the town he lives in. In this book we finally learn his secrets of why he is so determined to kill Sergei. He feels he cannot have love until Sergei has been dealt with and even then, he fears the darkness in is soul may prevent him from ever finding it. Despite all of his new friends finding their own happiness, he's determined to go it alone. Why? He just doesn't want to expose anyone else to Sergei or his own darkness. But that doesn't detour his friends for one second, because they are determined to help him whether he asks for their help or not.

Bridget has her own secrets which are also unveiled in this book. I knew I was going to love her when she was introduced in the last book. She and Marco came to this town when there were bomb threats. From day one; her and Ahmed were bumping heads. She is a very strong-willed, and brave woman who is more than capable of taking care of herself, and I think that took Ahmed by surprise. She has her own contacts (her 4 star General Daddy, as well as some other very highly placed diplomats in the White House) around the world and is perfectly capable of kicking ass all on her own.

The chemistry between these two was smoldering HOT!!!! I got a big kick out of the way the other women reacted when they saw these two share a tender look, a warm embrace, or one of those STEAMY HOT KISSES.

The scene with Bridget and Annie at the football game had me all but rolling on the floor with laughter. And the Rose Sisters always make me laugh. Let me tell you...those women will bet on anything. lol! But Lord have Mercy on anyone who ticks them off.

The continued one uppence between Cy and Ahmed was just too funny, too. I also thought the inner action between Bridget's parents were hysterical. You could tell who wore the pants in that family, and I assure you.... it wasn't the 4 star General. He might rule his troops and people in the White House, but at home he sure towed the mark.

All of Kathleen Brooks books have always been the perfect blend of romance and suspense for me, and while she leaves us outside the bedroom door for the sex scenes, I find I'm so caught up in the story that I don't miss the more graphic scenes. Sometimes less is more, at least for me.

I thought the ending a was perfect, even though it made me a tad bit weepy knowing that this was the end, at least for now. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

If you haven't read this series yet, I suggest you run out and get them now. I assure you...you will not be disappointed in any way.
