Historic Girls edition by Elbridge Streeter Brooks Literature Fiction eBooks
Although I am not completely finished with this book, I have found it engaging and enjoyable to read. These accounts of the lives of historical female figures are entertaining to read and almost conversational in nature. Many times historical accounts are dry and uninteresting, but this book tackles history in a very appealing way, making the subjects of the biographical sketches seem like real people rather than just two dimensional.Product details

The book was written to be a children's book and employs an engaging, easy-to-read style that is similar to other books of the period in its descriptions and language.
Although it is good to see stories of women in history this book has not stood the test of time with the writing style very old fashioned. It may stimulate some young girls to explore historic women further
this was not quite what I expected. It lists the heroics of girls from centuries ago, but in a very factual manner, and as its mostly based on verbal relation of their deeds, its comes over as a bit wooden.
